Some of these artists include Alanis Morrissette, Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera and her ultimate idol Lady Gaga.
Raquel’s talent was recognized early on at school and she was asked to sing lead roles by the music middle school teacher. Raquel always loved and appreciated live music and grew a desire to seek out fellow musicians and start a band. In her early 20’s she entered her first original band “Goodbye Tomorrow” where she wrote and performed her own lyrics in an edgy alternative rock style leading to this band winning Battle of the Bands.
Raquel continued in other original bands and then also sought out blues musicians to try a new dynamic in her vocal career. Raquel and the Blue Tones was formed where they journeyed together for 8 years playing music in the blues genre and later expanding their genres to rock and pop covers. Raquel and the Blue Tones went their own ways on other musical projects and this is where Raquel’s Riot was born.
In 2023, Raquel took initiative in creating and managing her own band, and in less than a year, Raquel's Riot has achieved remarkable success. With over 35 performances under their belt in less than a year’s time, including high-profile events such as Girl Jam with Girl Guides of Canada and the iconic Toronto CNE Midway Stage, the band is gaining widespread acclaim. Alice has always had at least one band, with her ambition and dedication leading her to be in four bands up until the pandemic. Alice's parents have supported her from day one, and can still be seen at every Raquel's Riot show with their video cameras and admiration. Currently, Alice pursues several projects that allows her to fulfill the wide expanse of her love for music, with her managing to play drums, bass, guitar, and sing throughout her various expeditions. Her membership in Raquel's Riot was an alignment within the stars that signifies the meaning that music has in her life, but even more so her growth as a young woman and musician. Her love for music can be seen every day, from when she does her schoolwork listening to her favourite tunes, or when she frequents open jams or other musicians' performances; her love for music is undying and her involvement in Raquel's Riot represents a monumental next step for Alice's career.
