MEET THE BAND
RAQUEL
Lead Vocals
Raquel was born and raised in Toronto and developed her love for music and singing at a young age. Inspired by listening to her father playing his record collection including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, CCR and much more, it nurtured her passion. Not only influenced by her father’s favourite bands, Raquel also discovered other artists that inspire her when she is taking the stage and performing. Some of these artists include Alanis Morrissette, Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera and her ultimate idol Lady Gaga.
Raquel’s talent was recognized early on at school and she was asked to sing lead roles by the music middle school teacher. She also performed in high-school talent shows stealing the hearts of her teachers and peers. Her parents encouraged her singing and would take Raquel to Karaoke events giving her live experiences of performing in front of audiences in her adolescent years. From a young age Raquel was recognized and complimented on her powerhouse vocals and dimension in singing various genres with grit, grace, soul and control.
Raquel always loved and appreciated live music and grew a desire to seek out fellow musicians and start a band. In her early 20’s she entered her first original band “Goodbye Tomorrow” where she wrote and performed her own lyrics in an edgy alternative rock style leading to this band winning Battle of the Bands.
Raquel continued in other original bands and then also sought out blues musicians to try a new dynamic in her vocal career. Raquel and the Blue Tones was formed where they journeyed together for 8 years playing music in the blues genre and later expanding their genres to rock and pop covers. Raquel and the Blue Tones went their own ways on other musical projects and this is where Raquel’s Riot was born.
In 2023, Raquel took initiative in creating and managing her own band, and in less than a year, Raquel's Riot has achieved remarkable success. With over 35 performances under their belt in less than a year’s time, including high-profile events such as Girl Jam with Girl Guides of Canada and the iconic Toronto CNE Midway Stage, the band is gaining widespread acclaim. Their growing reputation is reaching beyond the GTA, as they perform in other cities and various festivals across Ontario. Raquel shines in the spotlight and captures her audience with her powerful vocals and dimension in her sound while captivating the audience with her energetic and magnetic performance on stage. Her talent and passion for singing radiates at every performance whether big or small while enchanting the crowd. The band continues to grow and has established itself as a leading high-energy cover band in the GTA and beyond, along with being honoured a Canadian Choice Award in the Music Artist category in 2026.
